What is a slut?
Is it a female who is open to sex with or without a relationship?
Is it a female who has had many sexual partners?
Is it just another sexist word to keep women down and in control?
Why do women call other women slut?
It's like a black man calling another black man 'nig***' the way a racist white man would mean it back in those dark, disgusting days.
(And yea, people say it all the time as another slang word that doesn't mean harm, and even girls say 'bitch' and 'slut' to their girl friends but don't mean much. My bff and I actually have the clean version of our own lol like beach, hole, jelly fish, and we call our special part V.J., really random stuff ^_^... but I'm talking about the real deal here)

What does a the word slut mean to you and what kind of females would you labes as one?



I guess I'd call someone a slut in a harmful way if it was an ugly soul*. But then I'd call that kind of person any bad word.

*Ugly Soul [noun, adj.]- bad person with a twisted personality and evil intentions towards everyone around them for no damn reason and enjoys hurting others

A slut is someone who is sexually promiscuous. While slut is typically used for women, men can be sluts too. Promiscuous does not mean simply having had many partners and it isn't tied to being in an official relationship either. Promiscuous behavior is characterized by a lack of standards, no discrimination... just fucking anybody.
Enjoying sex is good.
Great sex is great.
A slut is made when a person simply wants to have sex just to do it and doesn't care who with.

A single time of it and yeah maybe they were just desperate at the moment. When it becomes a recurring behavior pattern... Slut. The type that goes out frequently and just takes home the first warm body they find.

I would use the term for any man or woman that has multiple partners with no intention of settling down. Someone of loose moral character. Definitely for either sex who would engage in relations with someone known to be in a relationship. That's a two-way street there. They're both sluts. One for cheating on partner, the other for not giving a fig for anyone elses feelings other than getting their own rocks off.
I also like the older terms for such behavior. Strumpet, round heels, slag, whore.

A FWB situation still has some level of discrimination. Two people "use" each other to fulfill physical needs. Both know what is going on and neither wants a "real" relationship. There is still some selection process.
On the other hand...
If you are talking about people on CL posting random "hey come bang me in the backseat I don't care who, just come now!" ... yes, they are sluts.

I understand your point but you make it sound like science lol but when you don't think about it as deep, when it's who people who are clear on what the 'relationship' is based on, both have same intentions and don't want or expect more, should either be labeled as a negative word when the relationship is positive for both people who are involved?

By the way, I never said "slut" was a negative word... I just gave my definition of it. It is not something I would do, but if someone else wants to do it it's none of my business.

to me, a slut is:
- one who engages in sexual activity OUTSIDE of their committed relationship, especially when they are dishonest w/their partner about it.
- one who has sex with another's boyfriend/girlfriend when they KNOW he's/she's in a rel (not an open one either).
- one who goes beyond a one-time deal and willingly allows themselves to become a "thing on the side" is a slut, regardless of rationalizations.
- as others have said, someone who will sleep with anyone whom has the preferred genitalia.
- one who uses others for sex while being dishonest about their intentions.

however, i do NOT consider having sex outside of a committed relationship, where both people are unattached and honest with one another about their intentions, as being slutty. i think having a strong sexual appetite is a part of being human, and expressing that urge when uncommitted is not necessarily a negative thing.

HOWEVER - it is easy to arbitrarily apply the label of "slut" to a female to attempt to diminish her self-worth and worth in society.
i think what it comes down to: if no one is being hurt (either directly or indirectly, openly or covertly) and the sexual relationship (or relationships) is (are) serving a beneficial purpose, then there should be no "slut" label involved.
that's my personal view.

The only time I'd see it negative if it was something affecting others somehow. Or hell, even affecting the person in particular. One girl I know could easily be labeled as a slut. If she wants to sleep around, fine. But she makes a huge show about it, trying to get attention, and then cries and complains when the guy turns into a douche. Wtf did you expect? I would think that two consenting adults should be able to have sex at any time without it being considered slutty, if this sexual encounter remained respectful of one another. However, the moment one of these two "kissed and told" .. it then becomes slutty because care wasn't given to respect the other, and it would be one telling that is the slut.
Another thing that I feel is that, though people may attempt to fool themselves that it's ok to fuck without feelings .. this is a lie they tell themselves. We see it everyday in here, don't we? Mainly women, they will be involved in FWB relationship and in here desperately trying to figure out a way to get the man to fall in love with her, as she did him.
Perhaps a guy can fuck and walk away, but a woman cannot ... she by nature associates sex with love ... and if a woman fucks while trying to tell herself no love is invested, then that, in itself makes her a whore, because it means she gives her kitty away in exchange for trying to gain something from him = love.
