Nope. French Roast is as weird as I've gone.
This might be interesting.
http://deathwishcoffee.com/
It's not a typical coffee drink. It's made with green coffee extract, so you still get the caffeine, but then it's a tea infusion type thing. It's great! Iced, of course.
Dang, that death wish coffee kicks a punch!
I enjoy eating watermelon during summer, but I wouldn't call that food. So I have no favorite.
Your list is quite..small. Tongue

any sashimi, nigiri, and
kobe beef is fine with me.
being in america now,
i find it hard to find
the taste that matches
exactly back home in japan.
if it is not grown and raised
in kobe, it is NOT kobe beef.
all kobe beef is wagyu, but not
all wagyu is kobe.
i do luck up and find
some sushi places that are
close to home. but many others
are too westernized.
they call it sushi,
but you will not find in japan.
i love any seafood.
my favorite sashimi is odori ebi.
dancing baby shrimp eaten alive
dipped in sake.

There is a place up in Montana where the locals
celebrate an exotic delicacy sometimes known as "Rocky Mountain Oysters"
during the "Testy Festy".
Yes, the world famous "Testicle Festival" is celebrated
right there in the heart of the Northwest.
It is a dish comparable to the dancing baby shrimp.
There are reasons why native Asian cuisines are "westernized"
In part, it is due to the limited supply of native ingredients,
and, in part, due to content found to be a bit rich for the majority of
western sense of taste. - This may be due to indecent exposure to certain cuisines.
Hence... the compromise.

Anything Italian smile, Seafood (Alaskan crab legs), lovvvvve crispy fried chicken although I stay away from it, when I do treat myself to it, i'm in heaven!
Cook/grilling and entertaining at my home is my favorite.
(p.s. I responded to your pm)
Just returned from a long vacation...the sea food seasoned in carribean jerk, and cajun was to die for... cajun shrimp hogie sandwich for lunch with a fork suck in the middle...you had to eat shrimp off of it before you could fold the bread and eat it like a sandwich. Had that twice! I will be attempting to duplicate this at home.. smile

My hubby likes chocolate and now he has discovered baby food.

rofl at discovering baby food. Big Grin
Great stuff, gang... keep it comin' - something come up in particular, please share it.
I personally don't get to eat all the different kinds of food that I would like to.
I'm dominated by the VERY simple finger meals at home. (baloney sammys and plain tortillas - they rotate)
But now and then I get a treat. - it's been a lonnnng while since I've enjoyed a nice slab of filet mignon.
That's ok... I can pretend with some ham.
smile
My scorp and I love to go out for:
Chinese food
Burritos
BBQ brisket
Steak
At home, we eat a lot of broiled or grilled chicken. My scorp does not like baked chicken or meat that has bones, lol.
His favorite dinner is breakfast for dinner, which is weird because he never eats breakfast in the morning. But he loves when I make eggs, bacon, and hash browns for dinner.
Gollygeewilligars I forgot Liver and Onions and Steak Fries or was it Baked Potatos???
Mmmmm that's good.
Love Stovetop Stuffing and Rice-A-Roni.

I do that too sometimes... meals are all scattered about like a mess on the ceiling. Big Grin
Funny, I grew up with a little family tradition of Friday night dinner we would sometimes make homemade from scratch (including milling the flour) Belgian waffles with a hot fruit and berry compote, eggs, sausage patties, hash browns. Loved it!
Lamb steak with rosemary and lavender....yum, tender, buttery! Tamales....but they have to be homemade, traditional tamales, not the stuff in the stores, omg, heaven when you get homemade Mexican food. Blackberry muffins (which I just made with wild blackberries I picked yesterday).

That's a whole different festival, the Rockie Mountain range pretty much runs from northern New Mexico clear up into
British Columbia, it's highest peak is about 14,000 feet is in Colorado.
No, none of that nonsense for the Bird. No way no how! - same goes eating live animals, like dancing baby shrimp that can dance in the belly. - NOPE! not happening! Never Order The "Special".

I know where the Rockies are and have been in and around various parts of them, but didn't know there was a festival for the "oysters" up in Montana. The "oysters" are bull testicles, yes? What other festival are you referring to? lol
As a side note: no I won't eat animal testicles, live animals, or bugs.

It's held in Clinton MT. (that's on I-90)
I don't know if they have it at the same time every year, but this year, it appears to be held during the "LEO"
time of the year - click on the link and spot the superficial stupidity of the spectacle.

Looks like the usual shindig for that sort of thing. I googled and it looks like there's one in Virginia, Texas, Colorado has a few....
I'll skip eating bulls' balls.

Ikizukuri, or 'prepared live' is
a common thing where I'm from.
It is normal for people to eat
live seafood. i like the odori shrimp,
but the live octopus is good as well.
it is normal to get the fish.
the chef must cut the fish
without killing it. the heart still beats.
some of the fish parts are cut to sashimi
and decorated around the live body.
then you eat. acquired taste, yes.

Indeed, acquired taste is key.
I suppose that IF live shrimp were the only food available
and I had no means to cook the shrimp and was hungry. Then and only then,
would my circumstances justify acquiring such tastes.
The way of the Red Road Teaches that we respect the animals.
They are not a dietary play thing for our amusement, as you had just described.
IF we must eat them, we must also extend to their life, merciful respect.
For without their life, our bellies would not be filled with their meat.
Do you understand?

Some things are not meant to be eaten. But for pride, stupidity prevails with such people.

Thank you. I didn't want to seem disrespectful towards a different culture and way of eating, but the idea of eating something while it's alive is....cruel. Yes, I know where meat comes from, but give the animal a clean and merciful death. Don't gut it and have it's heart beating while you dress the plate and dig in.
IF I had to eat raw I would still at least kill it first...even a shrimp.

Good analogy. It seems a bit grotesque making a huge celebration in honor of eating testicles. The reason for celebrating is...warped.

Only Xtra Crispy Legs. - It's not as good as it used to be. I have been working on a "KFC" recipe, though.
TachiMichi, you said
"it is already understood that
we must respect animals and
we need them for consumption.
I understand everyone has a different view
when it comes to ikizukuri.
even in japan, the topic is divided.
yet i also understand that what seems
wrong to one person is not wrong
to the next person. of course you
have a right to feel opposed to ikizukuri.
yet i also have the right not to
share the same sentiments towards it.
the animals are not used as play things
as you claim. there are some people
who like their meal absolutely fresh.
there is gratefulness in every bite of food,
whether seafood is alive or dead.
this is no crueler than eating live oysters
or boiling lobster alive until it dies.
we will agree to disagree respectfully."

Let's focus on the the last sentence of the first paragraph:
Question: You said the topic is divided - I think you mean
that even in Japan, "opinions are divided".
What do the prevailing opinions of BOTH sides of the issue say.
That is:
Particularly those that oppose the delicacy?

^^ And the opinion of those in favor of the delicacy?
What are the reasons why? - again For BOTH sides of the debate?
Fun thread Mr.F
I don't eat normal food much anymore since digestive issues had me suffering too much. When I do however I LOVE a minimum 1" thick Rib-Eye grilled on the Bbq to medium rare served with potatoes and mushrooms. I do up my potato with lots and lots of butter, sour cream, and chives. If I am going to hurt I will make sure it's worthwhile.
My homemade bread is the second treat I crave. When it is hot out of the oven I load it with butter, peanut butter and honey and I am in heaven....
Ribs, my ribs.
Fresh Fish fried in cast on the open fire in the middle of the night
Chocolate Cake for breakfast
Cereal.... I can never stop at one bowl
A big pot of crab legs that takes 2 hours to eat
Soft Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies warm and delicious
Strong Coffee that is not bitter
Hmmmmmm..... now I am hungry Straight Face

KFC used to be very good and a childhood treat. I agree.
When you perfect your recipe you will have to share it... let me re-phrase, when you perfect your recipe will you share it? hehe

Hmmm... I just recalled Liver, onions, mushrooms - add Anaheim Chili.
I ought to try that.
Liver... yuck. Onions? Carmelized? Mmmmmmmmm! Stuffed Mushrooms? Yum! I have never heard of Anaheim Chili but I do make a very smoky flavored chili that goes very well with fresh buns.... I must be craving bread. Lol

What's wrong? Still hate women? Still angry because you have a wee mouse turd for a dick? Your problem is you're sexually frustrated: women don't want you, you don't love yourself and you have an abnormal love/hate relationship with sex and your own sexuality. Start masturbating....you'll be less bitter.
