Do Hot Yoga.
It's great for losing belly fat.
Also, make sure you go running at least several miles every week.
Stay away from sodas altogether, and drink plenty of water.
No junk food or processed foods, but plenty of fruits and vegetables instead.

SF really you can lose belly fat, prove it???

Yes, please use the advice mentioned above.
I usually lose a gallon of sweat in the sauna known as Hot Yoga.
Running 10-15 miles a week is also excellent.
Im so out of shape running is something I don??t know if I could do right away, I use to love to run. But I cant climb a flight of stairs right now with out taking a break I figured yoga was a good start to get back into things? Any more advice? Where do I start I don??t want to over whelm my self and give up.
So I joined the YMCA last night. offers a wide variety of classes im gonna give a go at a spin class as well. im gonna go all in and get back in to shape and your totally right dude my brain fires like 90... kill 2 birds with one stone.
It will help but it won't be as effective as cardio, which is the quicker way to lose weight.
Yoga is really amazing for the body overall though. The benefits are outstanding.
That spin class is what's gonna help you lose the weight, though. Combine that with yoga and you're set.

I've heard cardio is an ideal choice for those looking to drop weight, but also that an increase in appetite may result due to the energy expenditure.
Not that this should discourage anyone from trying it out--running is known to intensify appetite as well. Yet all the runners I know have builds ranging between lean & fit to emaciated-looking. LOL.

That all depends on how much running is done. Weight loss benefit cardio is an hour a day. It doesn't even have to be running. It can be swimming, spinning, cycling, speed walking, etc. Anything that elevates the heart rate. That appetite increase isn't necessarily a bad thing as long as you aren't eating foods that will cancel out expenditure. Weight loss happens when energy expended exceeds energy consumed.
But overall, the official stance on the ACSM is at least 40-60 mins of cardio a day for weight loss, and 3-5 days of resistance training for the other side of the spectrum as far as exercise goes.
I will be back... as yoga is one of my fav. subjects

no, run, weights, and diet
yoga helps tone

I will say in order to get a real work out from yoga you have to really develop some leave of skill. Calorie burn and strength can be accomplished depending on the type of class you are talking.
Again I would suggest get a good feel for it at a starters lever and move up. Yoga is one of the best ways to find a good workout.
I would recommend Hatha... first... to just get a basic exposure... to it... maybe for 3 months then move on to flow... if you seem to move faster with it then go with it... then try the heated classes... Then try advanced heated classes... In yoga if you do stuff like sculpting classes shit gets nuts...
"For example, a Hatha flow would burn about 300 calories while a Vinyasa flow would burn around 600 in 60 mins. My studio primarily does Power (Vinyasa) Yoga so I leave absolutely drenched from the constant movement & strength challenges throughout the class....not to mention the heat, of course!"
Sculpting classes may burn 600 plus because you use weights... it can be crazy shit...
There is a big difference... the advantages with yoga is it is very hard to injure your self... it is all low impact.... If you also get hurt... like my leg is bothering me so I don't do as much cardio... this acts as a cardio...
If I had one thing that I could make mandatory for every living person this is it... as it could possibly lead to world piece...
I am not even joking...

The class I do are a litte harder...

Seen people like this... I can do arm balances in variations but still have a ways to go before this... but easy crow... runners balances on arms only... side balance... still working on flying legs

you must also learn to fall or be humble enough to fall to before you can fly...
No joke I have done off the wall workouts... and I never thought this stuff would be as hard as it was until I did it...

Oh running 5 miles only burns around 480 for me... I can say normally I run and do yoga... but again leg has not been doing the best so pulled back running and more yoga...

Most people also don't know that people who actually do practice yoga... hatha actually... it focus on the breathe but also... having a healthy diet is consider apart of it.

How long does it take you to run 5 miles?
People all too often equate distance as the deciding factor in their cardio. It's not about distance, it's about time.
I love hot yoga. I don't consider it a big calorie burner though. It's more for flexibility, deep muscle stretching, meditation, and detoxing the organs. Its also good for preventing injures while performing other higher intense activites. It does burn some calories (probably about 300 an hr) and also builds and tones muscles from lifting your own body weight.
Weight lifting, diet, HIIT workouts, and cardio are really much better for calorie burning but I think it's all about balance and yoga is good to incorportate with these.
